vega world heritage center
Our exhibitions
- Our main exhibition, "Ville vakre Vega", tells the story of Vegaøyan, from the Stone Age to the present day. You'll learn about the life of the islanders and the eider tradition. We offer personal guidance through the exhibition - ask about this at reception. You can also borrow an audio guide with songs, poems and local narration.
- We also have an exhibition about world heritage in general, both in Norway and abroad. This exhibition is mostly indoors, but part of it is also outdoors at the entrance to the center.
- In our film room, two films about Vega and its world heritage are shown continuously.
- Trollfjell Geopark has contributed to an exciting and interactive exhibition about the geological history of the area. This is located inside the main exhibition.
- In addition, you can visit temporary exhibitions that highlight world heritage in different ways.
- The center is surrounded by a nature and culture trail that you are welcome to visit all year round. In summer, goats graze in this area and you can say hello to them as you walk along the trail.
