The islands

Hysvær consists of a couple of hundred islands , a region with an old settlement and mentioned in written sources as early as the 13th century as a place where down was collected.

Flovær is an old one eiderdown islands at the far end of the fall, about 16 nautical miles northwest of Vega. Out to Egga it is 4.7 nautical miles.

The fishing village Bremstein is located 22 nautical miles southwest of Vega, farthest towards the open sea, and was previously the largest fishing village in Vega.
