Seabird conference in Bodø
The decline in seabird populations is dramatic. More and more species are ending up on the Red List of endangered seabirds. On April 3rd and 4th, the Vegaøyan Foundation invited World Heritage to a seabird conference in Stormen in Bodø.
A total of 16 of the 28 marine seabird species in Norwegian waters during the year are on the Norwegian Red List. But we can help the birds! On April 3rd – 4th, 2024, the Vegaøyan World Heritage Foundation brought together researchers, managers, birdtenders , politicians, coastal fishermen, artists, youth and all other interested parties to a dialogue about what the situation is and what we can do to help the seabirds. Join us and have your say and give your input.
The project was part of Bodø as European City of Culture 2024. Read more about Sound of Silence, VAGRANT, the Seabird Archive on its way home and the bird village in Breivikfjæra at Sound of Silence
The Foundation also put the spotlight on seabirds at Vega. This happened from 1st to 3rd July 2024 when we celebrated 20 years of world heritage, visited the dunværet Lånan and held a seabird conference with key speakers – from researchers to practitioners.
